During Thanksgiving, 2 things are for certain: NFL football and food, lots of it. On Thanksgiving day, the average person consumes 4500 calories. 4500! That is more than double the recommended intake of 200! However, cavities may accompany your weight gain if proper steps aren't taken. Here are common foods that our served and what steps should be taken to prevent tooth erosion:
Turkey: Turkey is fairly safe but it can get caught in between your teeth after chewing. Be sure to floss the night of to prevent any turkey meat staying in between your teeth overnight gathering bacteria.
Macaroni and Cheese: Macaroni and cheese is very sticky and could stick to your teeth. Once it is stuck to your teeth, it makes it easier for bacteria to stick to them as well. Make sure you floss, brush, and rinse your mouth thoroughly the night of in order to prevent bacterial accumulation.
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy: These foods contain a lot of starch and bacteria love starch. Try to avoid this if you can. If not, make sure you brush and floss the night of.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
