Many people in the world today do not prioritize their oral health. However, new research has shown that keeping up with your oral health may result in an improvement of overall health. New studies have been shown where people that go see their dentist more frequently report fewer issues of having health problems. One of the most recent findings were the correlation between oral health and rheumatoid arthritis.
Maintaining proper oral health has also been shown to improve the lives as well as reduce costs for people suffering from one of the most common conditions: diabetes. Analysis from health insurance companies has shown that people with diabetes who receive proper periodontal treatment often end up paying less in medical bills.
It can be seen that there are already examples of benefits to be had by maintaining proper oral health, but more research needs to be done to discover any further benefits that may exist as well.
